Aaron Kelly

What a GREAT Ride it has been!!

May 6, 2010
Who would have thought that the little 11-year-old that walked into he Q Country studio all those years ago, would end up in the Top 5 of American Idol?
It's been a blast and a thrill to watch his progress all these months.  We're going to leave this page up so that you can enjoy it while we wait for the inevitable first album from "Our Friend Aaron".

Scroll Down to Follow Aaron's Progress.

Why We Love Him...
Several years ago, a young 11 year old Aaron Kelly came on the Wake Up Q program to sing us a little song.   Dressed in a red western shirt and way-too-large cowboy hat, this shy, polite young man totally shocked us with his way-too-large voice!

Since then, Aaron has had an open door invitation to be on the show and he's totally wowed crowds at the annual fireworks show, at the Cortland Country Music Park and at a ton of festivals.

Now that he's finally 16 he's on his way to being the next American Idol!!

Heres a place to track his progress and offer a little encouragement as we watch and cheer him on! From here you can:

Finally!  Aaron is singing because he loves to sing again!!!!!!  From Shania Twain Week....

Good news announced on Idol Gives Back:
SHANIA TWAIN ON BOARD AS "AMERICAN IDOL" MENTOR

Shania Twain will be returning to "American Idol." During the "Idol Gives Back" special last night on Fox, host Ryan Seacrest announced that the singer will serve as next week's guest mentor and coach the six remaining finalists as they prepare for their performances. The country star is well suited for the job. The hopefuls will be covering material from her catalog. Shania's turn on "American Idol" will air on Fox next Tuesday and Wednesday. This will be the second time this season Twain has lent her talents to the singing competition. Shania also took part in the initial audition phase last summer. She weighed in on those trying out in Chicago last August, acting as "Idol's" fourth judge. At the time, original "Idol" judge Paula Abdul had just left the show, and Ellen DeGeneres hadn't yet been tapped to join the panel.

Entertainment Weekly asked the Top 12 Contestants several questions after the March 11th eliminations.  Here’s how Aaron answered:

EW: Were you shocked or upset about who was eliminated tonight?
Aaron Kelly: I didn't know what to expect tonight. Everybody did such a great job last night, and I didn't really know what to expect. So, I was just shocked to be a part of the top 12.

EW: What do you think Ellen DeGeneres is bringing to the show?
Aaron Kelly: I miss Paula a lot, but Ellen brings a really cool vibe to the show. She's hilarious, and I love her show, so, it's good to have her on American Idol.

EW: The judges' advice has been contradictory at times. How have you been dealing with their critiques?
Aaron Kelly: I'm taking what they say and building on it. Sometimes it can be a little bit confusing as to what they actually meant by what they were saying. But, you know, I have my mom here. She can explain it to me.

EW: Are there any theme nights you're particularly looking forward to? Or artists you're hoping you get to sing?
Aaron Kelly: I'm excited for country week.

EW: Is there anything you're looking forward to changing during your upcoming makeovers?
Aaron Kelly: I'm going to go in there and let them play around and see if they can find something cool. If they make me look a little bit better, I'm all for it.
