The fifth annual Staff Slam Basketball Tournament will take place on Friday, March 2 in the Trumansburg HS Gym. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and the games begin at 6:15. As always, there will be three 30-minute games: elementary vs. high school, elementary vs. middle school and middle vs. high school. To celebrate its fifth year, planners have decided to open the mascot contest to any fan who wants to participate. The winning mascot for each team will be chos n after the second game and each winner will receive a four-day pass to GrassRoots, plus other great prizes. Mascots should identify with one of the teams (elementary is red, middle school is yellow and high school is blue), wear their craziest outfit and act… mascotty. Mascot contestants will want to get the attention of the basketball players – they will choose the winners Advance tickets cost $3 and will be available in the Main Offices from February 27 through March 2. Tickets at the door cost $4. Children in preschool and younger are free. All proceeds from this event will be shared between the elementary and middle school PTOS, the high school student council and the sports boosters.
